Dato' Ir Lee Yee-Cheong

Dato' Ir Lee Yee-Cheong is President-Elect of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia (ASM), and Chairman of the Board of the ASEAN Council of Academies of Science, Engineering and Technology and Similar National Organizations (ASEAN-CASE). He is a member of the Board of the Inter-Academy Council of World Science Academies and a member of the Academic Council of the World Economic Forum. Recently, Dato Lee led WFEO in the ICSU/WFEO joint initiative as the Organizing Partners for the Science & Technology Communities for the World Summit for Sustainable Development (WSSD) Johannesburg, 2002. Previously, he was Managing Director of Tenaga Ewbank Preece and Partner in the UK holding company, overseeing the expansion of the group in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to that he served with the National Electricity Board Malaysia where he was primarily involved in power system protection, real-time computer control of the power grid. After retiring as CEO early 2002, Dato Lee is Advisor to the Chairman of KTA Tenaga Sdn Bhd, one of the top engineering consultancy companies in Malaysia and serves as director of UMW Holdings Berhad. He received several Malaysian and Australian State awards and is an Honarary Fellow at several national Engineering Institutions including the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Electrical Engineers, UK and the Institution of Engineers, Australia. He is the patron of the International Young Professionals Foundation and a Foreign Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.
