Catherine Wilfert

Catherine Wilfert is the Scientific Driector of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. In that role, she has focused on the implementation of mechanisms to interrupt transmission of HIV from infected mothers to their infants. She is also currently the Chair of the Perinatal Working Group for the Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) sponsored by NIH. Prior to this, Dr. Wilfert was one of the first investigators in the field of Pediatric HIV/AIDS. She has been seminal in the implementation of her concept of interruption by maternal AZT therapy of HIV transmission from mother to infant. Dr. Wilfert holds a medical degree from Harvard Medical School.
