Mark Stirling

Mark Stirling is the Chief of the HIV/AIDS Section in the Programme Division at UNICEF and is responsible for guiding and coordinating UNICEF headquarters' support for an expanded response to HIV/AIDS. Prior to joining the Programme Division in New York, Mr. Stirling served as UNICEF Representative in Mozambique (1997-2000), Zambia (1993-1997) and Somalia (1992-1993); and before that as Senior Programme Officer in Angola (1988-1992), Assistant Representative in Swaziland (1984-1988) and health project officer in Uganda (1981-1984). Mr. Stirling studied at the Monash University in Victoria, Australia, where he obtained a Bachelor of Economics degree.

As of Jan 1, 2007, the advisory work formerly carried out by the Millennium Project secretariat team is being continued by an MDG Support team integrated under the United Nations Development Program.
