José Ribeiro

José Ribeiro is the Head of the Section of Medical Entomology at the Laboratory of Malaria and Vector Research, National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Ribeiro is a Medical Entomologist and has worked mainly in the role of vector arthropod salivary glands in feeding and parasite transmission. He also has an interest in population modeling and epidemiology. Dr. Ribeiro has served on several panels of the Tropical Disease Research Program (TDR) of the WHO (Biological Control of Vectors, Fieldmal, and Molecular Entomology), and served as a Chairman of the Molecular Entomology Steering Committee for five years. He holds an MD degree from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Biophysics Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
