Mary Joy Pigozzi

Mary Joy Pigozzi is the Senior Advisor for Primary Education at UNESCO where she is responsible for the development of both the UN system-wide Girls' Education Initiative and UNESCO's global Girls' Education Programme. Both are multi-faceted programmes that are built on the principles of gender-sensitive education systems, national ownership, educational reform, and creative partnerships. Prior to her work at UNESCO, Dr. Pigozzi served as the Associate Executive Director of the Midwest Universities Consortium for International Activities, Inc. She received her PhD from Michigan State in Educational Administration and Adult and Continuing Education.
