Penina Mlama

Penina Mlama is currently the Executive Director of the Forum for African Women Educationalists, an organization engaged in promoting girls' education in Sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Mlama is also an acclaimed thespian and published playwright, and has incorporated her development work into several theatre projects with OXFAM, UNICEF, IDRC, and the Dutch Embassy. She has also served as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics at the University of Dar es Salaam. Dr. Mlama received her PhD from the University of Dar es Salaam in the Theatre Arts.

As of Jan 1, 2007, the advisory work formerly carried out by the Millennium Project secretariat team is being continued by an MDG Support team integrated under the United Nations Development Program.
