Michael H. Merson

Michael H. Merson is the Dean of Public Health, Anna M. R. Lauder Professor, and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale University School of Medicine. He is also Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS at Yale. Through this Center, he is Principal Investigator on several NIH international AIDS research and training programs in Russia, China, India and South Africa. Previously he worked for 17 years with the World Health Organization, serving first as Director of the Diarrheal Diseases Control and the Acute Respiratory Infections Control Programs and subsequently as Executive Director of the WHO Global Program on AIDS. Dr. Merson received his M.D. from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York.
