Jeremy Smith

Jeremy Smith is currently (from 2002) Secretary-General of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, and also (till the end of 2003) Secretary-General of the International Union of Local Authorities.

A barrister by background, he has worked for cities and local governments since 1983. From 1989 to 1995, he was Chief Executive of the London Borough of Camden, a diverse inner city municipality, and from 1996 to 2002, Director of the UK's Local Government International Bureau.
