William Dar

William Dar is Director General of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), an agriculture research center supported by CGIAR. Dr. Dar has led the development of an IPR policy for ICRISAT, enhanced its technology exchange efforts, and set up a quick response mechanism to counter plant diseases and other epidemics. Prior to joining ICRISAT, he served as presidential Advisor for Rural Development and as Acting Secretary of Agriculture in the Phillippines. Dar received an M.S. in agronomy from Benguet State University and a Ph.D. in horticulture from the University of the Philippines.
