Nearly 2 million people die each year from TB. However, real progress has been made over the last decade in implementing DOTS – an effective intervention against TB. Investing in Strategies to Reverse the Global Incidence of TB describes the features of DOTS and offers a guide to implementing the system and achieving a universal standard of care based on proper diagnosis, treatment and reporting.
As of Jan 1, 2007, the advisory work formerly carried out by the Millennium Project secretariat team is being continued by an MDG Support team integrated under the United Nations Development Program.
