Spotlight: The Millennium Village of Tiby

Village clinic

There is one clinic in Tiby run by a health worker with only two years of medical training. The nearest doctor is 40 km away and the villagers have to use donkey-drawn carts to get there.

The villagers are plagued by high incidences of malaria as well as high child mortality rates due to rampant diarrhea.

Less than half of the villagers can afford basic medication and the health worker doesn't have any bed nets to give to the ones who need them most: pregnant women and children.
