A new beginning

Work is just getting underway in Tiby. For the first time this August the villagers planted with fertilizer and improved seed varieties. After the rainy season ends in September the villagers depend on irrigation to supply additional water to the rice fields until it is time for the harvest in November. The dry cereals, like millet and sorghum, need less water and are therefore harvested earlier in the fall.
